Home life

So, for the past week I've been posting photos that show the things for which I am thankful. This post will show the day to day happenings of home life. So often I take these "small" things for granted. Being a family, walking with God and teaching Lily His ways in the everyday steps are "HUGE" blessings.....not just small things. I mess up along the way and get to once again experience God's forgiveness and grace but through it all I pray He will do His work in and through us as parents to teach Lily about the love and faithfulness of our Savior. I'm learning that His ways are to be taught all through the day, every day....not just at Church, not just on Wednesdays and Sundays. It's when we are painting or feeding the chickens or lying down for a nap or taking a walk....
 Deut. 11:18-23
18 Therefore you shall lay up these My words in your [minds and] hearts and in your [entire] being, and bind them for a sign upon your hands and as forehead bands between your eyes.

19 And you shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you rise up.

20 And you shall write them upon the doorposts of your house and on your gates,

21 That your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.

22 For if you diligently keep all this commandment which I command you to do, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, and to cleave to Him—

23 Then the Lord will drive out all these nations before you, and you shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than you.

Here are some photos as we are walking along the way :)

Moments

The Lord has really been teaching me alot about "enjoying the moment" and "keeping it simple"....in life and in my relationship with Him. Things get so busy and I tend to make things so complex that it takes away from what God has given me and how He really intends for me to live. Seeing Lily grow up so fast has caused me to slow down. I guess it's the natural desire to try to hold onto the "now" and the resistance to her becoming older and not my baby anymore. So, it's like that with the Lord. Instead of constantly wanting to move on to the next thing I think He wants me to look into His beautiful face and take in the moments that I have with Him. Psalm 16:11 "In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever." It's not always about gaining more knowledge about Him but simply to sit at His feet and enjoy Him. I think about the story in Luke 11:38-42 and Martha was so busy preparing and doing but Mary "had chosen the good part" as she enjoyed her time with Jesus.

And even this morning I was busy "doing" laundry and housework and Lily said "Mommy, I want you to hold me" and she simply wanted me to sit down and hold her (as we watched Shirley Temple). I could have told her I had too much to get done but I stopped and enjoyed the moment. That's really what life is all about. Enjoying our relationships that God has blessed us with - family, friends, and HIM. Here's a slideshow of some of our precious moments as a family.

Father's Day 2011

What a day! I am overwhelmed with love for 3 fathers - my Dad, my husband, and my Heavenly Father. We should really celebrate our love for them EVERY day. I am blessed by all 3!! It has been neat to teach Lily about the relationship she can have with our Heavenly Father. One of my favorite verses that describes his love is in 1 John 3:1-3....here it is in the amplified version -

1SEE WHAT [an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown, bestowed on) us, that we should [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! The reason that the world does not know (recognize, acknowledge) us is that it does not know (recognize, acknowledge) Him.
2Beloved, we are [even here and] now God's children; it is not yet disclosed (made clear) what we shall be [hereafter], but we know that when He comes and is manifested, we shall [as God's children] resemble and be like Him, for we shall see Him just as He [really] is.
3And everyone who has this hope [resting] on Him cleanses (purifies) himself just as He is pure (chaste, undefiled, guiltless).

So, we are enjoying an afternoon at home - together! Had a great Church service this morning, yummy Thai food for lunch, a quick stop by Goodwill, a nap and now we are in our 3 corners :) Joe is watching Swamp People, Lily is watching Rapunzel and I'm blogging (for the first time in months). I was inspired by my sweet friend, Sophie, who just started a blog about her journey of faith. I'm just reminded that time flies by and moments are forgotten if I don't make notes along the way.

I want to honor Lily's Daddy in this blog post today. She is truly blessed with such a wise, gentle, loving father. Their relationship is precious and always growing. It has been a real joy to be able to see them spend so much time together and I pray she will pick up some of his "ways" along the way. Their recent endeavor has been a garden - squash, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, green beans - and we have been able to benefit from the fruits of their labor (YUM!). They do the gardening and I take the pictures :) and eat :)
