Ten

We ask Lily how old she is and she says "ten."  Well, ok.

I can't help but think of myself when she says that.  My birthday was on Tuesday (36) but the birthday that really counts was on....well, between Sunday and Monday.  That's right.  I was born again on Feb. 29, 2000 and since it's leap year I only celebrate my spiritual birthday every 4 years.  I think God has a sense of humor because I am probably slower to mature than most.  He is still working out my stubborn, selfish ways and there is so much work to be done.  I'm glad He is patient with me and faithful to me.  But, as I reflect over the past 10 years of walking with Him and the ups and downs of life it has been an amazing journey - to know and trust Jesus more every day....that is LIFE and that is ETERNAL LIFE.  "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." John 17:3  This has become one of my life verses.  I'm not perfect and I have a long way to go but when I began this walk 10 years ago I was so lost and hopeless and from that moment when I surrendered to Him God offered me eternal life.  That doesn't begin when I die - it begins when I start to live and walk with Him.  So, I could sum up the last "ten" with this....I have come to know Him more deeply which causes me to trust Him more fully.

So, I'm not sure what the significance of "ten" is to Lily but seems like everyday she comes up with something new....keeps things interesting and keeps us laughing :)  So, her new thing is numbers and counting.  Joe and I went to see a movie last night and Lily stayed with Maw Maw and it was funny to hear some of the stories....
She loves to play with dominoes and cards when she's at her Maw Maw's house so she started stacking them up just like she was playing and was saying "own, two, tree, nine, ten"  And there's a tiny swing that holds dolls that she likes to play with and she decided to try to get in it last night.  Sounds like Maw Maw had her share of laughs while babysitting.

And our weekend has been beautiful together as a family.  We went to our friend's birthday party today at Brantley Farms (petting zoo) and Lily had a blast and then we got to see Uncle Jeff, Aunt Tammy and our nephew Jared and his girlfriend, Crystal.  Here are a few photos -
this was only one of the horses she rode today (she is fearless)
well, except when it comes to bunnies - I don't know what the deal is but she does not like to pet the bunny and she even gets a little freaked out if she looks at him too long :)
she had a ball with Uncle Jeff!
playing airplane
and thrown in the air (not really...his hands never left her :) )
playing with Aunt Tammy
and of course....her buddy Jared.  Maw Maw had the magnifying glass out to see if Lily had a splinter in her hand but Lily thought it was a toy and Uncle Jeff was going to use it to make a fire. (you know - sun, glass, newspaper)  She's a little young for that but then again maybe she will forget it before she's old enough to play with stuff like that :)
Walking around barefooted is one of her favorite things to do and it turned out to be such a pretty day that she was able to enjoy it
does it get any sweeter???  seems like it does every day!  By the time she's "ten" the sweetness will be too much to handle. :)
