She will be 16 months old on the 17 of this month and she is becoming more independent the older she gets. I hope these recent incidents aren’t a small taste of what’s to come but just moments of testing her boundaries. She has started experimenting with biting and she chose Blake for her experiment last week. Sweet little Blake who never hits or pushes and is the most mild mannered child I’ve ever been around! Poor little guy. Anyway, I’m watching them like a hawk as we move through this stage. My friend Paula said it could be that she’s trying to express herself and doesn’t have the words for what she wants at that moment. However, her vocabulary amazes me! She is talking up a storm and really understands so much of what we say to her. I’ve noticed that she can follow a string of orders….not just one thing, but I can tell her “go in your bedroom and get your shoes and come back in here and put them on” and she will do it! I can’t wait until I can say “get the vacuum cleaner and the mop and broom and clean all the floors!” Just kidding. So a couple of funny stories of our sweetheart:
- I was at Bible study and Joe was keeping Lily and he said it got really quiet where she was playing so he went to check on her and found….her sitting in the pantry with 2 dark chocolate hearts (including aluminum foil) in her mouth and chocolate all over her face! It was so good that the cut on her lip caused by the foil didn’t even phase her but when Joe tried to take them away from her….well, you know! Later that afternoon Joe was going hunting and Lily followed him to the back door to say goodbye and I was zoned out doing something in the living room….Well, he came back in a few minutes later and said “Keri, Lily is still sitting here by the door.” So I went to the laundry room, picked her up and smelled something that I thought smelled like peanuts. Her mouth was obviously full….to the point she could barely answer my question when I asked her what she had in her mouth. She said (in a muffled tone) “cacka” – which is how she says “cracker.” I stuck my finger in her mouth and pulled out a handful of catfood! When I got it all out she started doing sign language – her sign for “more” and saying it over and over “more, more, more.” How gross is that?!
- When she is looking for Joe she walks through the house saying “Huuuu…nnn….eee” or “Doe” and she calls every bear she sees “Pooh”
- When she finishes eating she puts both her hands in the air and says “all gone” and the other night she obviously wasn’t too thrilled with dinner b/c she turned her plate over and put it back on the tray and said “all gone.” But, I have to say I am grateful that the throwing the food on the floor phase has passed! She now says “down” when she’s finished with her meal.
Here are a few random pictures of our sweetness (yes, even though she has moments where she wants to bite, kick or hit….she is still the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen!):
She very rarely will keep a bow in her hair but one day she kept pointing at the bows and saying "bow, more" so we put them all in her hair
It's that time of the year....static.....and yes, she gets in her toy box to play!
This is before bath time....it's one of her favorite games :) When Joe said "what is going on?" She said "socks!"
Hanging out with her Mommy reading a book and laughing
And yes, we are ready for summertime! I went to a consignment sale this past weekend and found a really cute bathing suit for Lily :)
see her cut lip from the dove chocolate foil
(that's what happens when you get into Mommy's hidden stash! I thought I had it hidden well enough from Joe....I definitely didn't think Lily could find it! Guess us girls can sniff it out :)
