These posts are getting harder each month as we get closer and closer to the big ONE YEAR mark. It hit me the other day as I was rocking her that it wouldn’t be long and she would be too big for me to even rock her! Oh….why does time have to pass so quickly….especially when we are savoring these moments with our little baby girl. She couldn’t be any sweeter and just full to the brim with personality. She keeps us laughing and we are in awe of how she is developing. She understands so many things even though she can’t quite communicate all that she’s thinking. When God was creating babies and giving them out….he gave us the best one!! Lily, you are an absolute blessing to us. We love you more than words can say.
At 11 months {YOU}:
- are crawling everywhere (and getting into EVERYTHING)
- just started pulling up by yourself
- took your first steps by yourself at the beginning of this month
- like to stand by yourself and rock back and forth (moving your head like you are dancing)
- blow kisses and say “ma”
- point at Daddy’s guitar and you “dance” when he plays for you
- wave and say bye bye
- still take 2 naps a day (usually one long and one short)
- still nurse 4-6 times a day
- still sleep through the night (with the exception of this week…you have more teeth coming in)
- still give Mommy open mouth kisses
- have 6 teeth
- like to “get” us….you crawl to us and we say “don’t get me” and then you start laughing saying “getcha” and pinching your hands to get us
- like to sit and look through your books especially the one that has photos of babies (you clap when you see the picture of the baby clapping)
- laugh and squeal when we tell you “no”
- hair is getting thicker and it’s curling up in the back
- can point to things when we ask you – where is Mommy’s nose, eyes, ears, mouth – and you like to poke me in the eye and say “I”
- love your new swing that we put on the porch
- like to go for a stroll and see the neighbor’s 2 dogs (you giggle and say “diggy diggy”)
- like to pick up tiny pieces of “stuff” off the ground and put it in your mouth (I sweep and vacuum just about every day)
- throw the ball and say "thee" b/c I always say 1, 2, 3 and then throw the ball to you
- say: mama, daddy, diggy {doggy}, gigi {Lily}, kitty, papa, oh wow, uh oh, ROLL TIDE (well…not yet!), and you say something to the rhythm of the abc’s and Daddy and Maw Maw are convinced that you’re saying “a, b, c, d”
- favorite things to do: take all the DVD’s off the shelf, take all the books off the shelf, play in the kitchen pantry while I cook, shred paper (you rip it into the tiniest pieces and then start putting them in your mouth – all of your pop up books have evidence of your paper abuse), splash in the bathtub, get the cordless phone or the cell phone and put it to your ear
- favorite foods: beans, hummus, watermelon, blueberries, cheese, baby cheetos (and you insist on feeding yourself and you have a bad habit of throwing food on the floor)
- favorite toys: balls, puzzles, books, activity table, push cart that you can stand and walk around with, elmo in the chicken suit
- favorite non-toys: phone, remote control, paper, plastic cups, walmart bags (we supervise when we let her play with these….don’t freak out grandparents)
- like looking at the ceramic birds at Maw Maw’s house and pointing until she gets them all down off the shelves and winds them up so they will play music
- like to play the piano
- sit and play in your crib when you wake up in the morning or after naps (you talk and look at your book or play with your stuffed dog and lamb)
And here are a few photos capturing a few of your favorite things:
being outsidethis toy that has balls that roll down the ramp
playing with Daddy
swinging (and getting all the attention from Maw Maw and Papa)
