Where have we been???

The blog has fallen by the wayside lately but I wanted to give everyone an update on our family….and I wanted to thank you for your prayers over this past month. My grandmother passed away on April 15 and we are so grateful to God that she is no longer suffering. (but we miss her so much) There have been several times that I have gone to the phone to call her and remembered that I can’t. This whole process has been a wake up call for me. 1.) It has made me realize just how short life really is – the Word says “it is a vapor” and that I should be seeing and looking for God’s gifts and blessings every day (there is SO MUCH to be thankful for) instead of being caught up in myself and complaining about petty things. 2.) Spend time on things that will last for eternity – family and friends….develop those relationships b/c you never know how long you have with them 3.) Jesus – whether we are living or dying, He is most important, and the end it’s just you and Him (do you know Him and does He know you)

The day before we left to go to MS for the funeral Nana came to see us. We were actually supposed to go to Destin with her for a long weekend but the plans obviously changed. However, the hours that Lily spent with her were precious! She is crazy about her Nana and spends much of her day walking around calling for her!
She took us out to lunch
and they played blocks
Nana made sure Lily was being fashionable while playing :)  Her blocks matched her dress!
and she loves Nana's dog, Oscar ("Oskey")
she especially likes his beard (and likes to PULL it!)
it was a beautiful day!

We went to stay with my family in MS for about a week and even though there were some really difficult moments of grieving it was so good to be together and to have each other to hold onto. Lily and Poppy were inseparable and she was spoiled by the WHOLE bunch! I guess there are advantages to being the youngest baby in a family of 50! (I’m not sure how many people we have in our family but it seems like 50 or more when we get everyone together – and that’s A LOT of LOVE!)
Prior to us going to MS we had been staying at the hospital with Maw Maw (Joe’s mom) while they treated her for lymphoma. She was a fighter and came through it beautifully. She came home on April 19 singing the Halleluiah chorus!  I’m not sure who was happier – Lily or Maw Maw. When they reunited at Maw Maw’s house Lily was jumping up and down on the inside and out! I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so excited. And I’m pretty sure SHE is the best medicine for Maw Maw. Since that time she is getting stronger everyday and her doctor’s appt. on Tues. was very encouraging. He said that they’ve put the cancer in remission but they want to beat it back as much as possible so they set her up with a schedule of chemo beginning next Tues. She will have it every 2 weeks for 6-8 rounds. (depending on how she does)  Please continue to pray for her!
