Falling down and crying it out

I'll begin with the "crying it out"....many people have encouraged me to try this technique with Lily since her sleep schedule is not very regular.  I'm not sure if it's the fact that Joe and I are first time parents and we just can't stand the thought of her crying or that I just don't agree with the practice of doing this.  If you asked Lily if she has a sleep routine she would probably tell you "yes, Mommy nurses me to sleep and then quietly lays me down in my crib after I've fallen asleep and then I sleep for a couple of hours and start crying so Mommy will come get me and put me in the bed with them and nurse me back to sleep....and then I toss and turn and kick them as much as I can for the next several hours of the night/early morning.  And when we get out of bed, all 3 of us have dark circles under our eyes."  So.....Joe and I finally decided to try it last night.  I did nurse her to sleep (as usual) but when she started crying at 12:30 am I went into her room and assured her that we were here and gave her the blanket and soft puppy to cuddle with and I went back to bed.  Well, she cried for about 45 minutes and I had gone back to sleep and Joe woke me up and said "do you think I should go check on her.....I don't hear anything."  It was so cute!  I think he was just so amazed that she actually went to sleep on her own.  So, I'm not sure how this will go but I guess we'll try it again tonight.

Ok, now for the "falling down" part.....you probably think I'm talking about Lily, right?  Nope, it's me.  I guess it's a part of being a parent but I've always had this thought/fear that me or Joe may fall sometime when we are carrying Lily.  Well, I did it.  We went to Maw Maw's Church on Saturday night to watch their Christmas program and as I was walking down the steps in the balcony I fell....HOLDING LILY.  Praise God I didn't hurt her!  She has some really wonderful guardian angels :)  Up until that point we had a great time watching Maw Maw in the program and Lily was clapping and dancing around to the music.  Here are a few photos to show some of our recent activities...

This photo was taken after the fall :).....and I'm still smiling!

Lily with Maw Maw and our nephew, Jared, after the Christmas program

She loved the banners at the Church
(and I do, too!  Looking at all the names of God and reminding myself
of the awesome God we serve "Prince of Peace" "Lamb of God"
"Jehovah Jireh My Provider")

This was one our favorites :)

and she liked the "Lamb of God" but at first she was a little scared
of it.  I guess it was the shiny eyes ???

But when she got better acquainted with it "baa baa" she
wanted to kiss the lamb

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful season of Christmas as we remember the reason that Jesus was born!  "to save His people from their sins" Matt. 1:21
PRAISE HIM!!!
