Family update

I haven’t been very lengthy with my blog posts lately but that does not reflect the amount of “stuff” that’s been going on in our lives. As we have been praying for God’s direction on the job situation - we received what I would call a curve ball. I was offered a job in Memphis, TN. "But God….I was praying that Joe would get a job!" All of this has shown me (or reminded me) that you can’t put God in a box. Our prayers are coming from our finite minds and as you know God’s thoughts and ways are high above ours. (Isaiah 55:9) So, this job opportunity really caused me to surrender to Him once again, to really place my life in His very able, loving hands and say….”I will do whatever you call me to do.” You know how it is….there’s always those “little” areas that we’re not willing to give up.

So, the last weekend of August we traveled to Memphis so I could interview for the job. (even though they had already offered it to me) We had fun spending time with Poppy and the Pryor family and the interview went well. They told me that they weren’t in a rush and we could take time to consider/pray about it. We wrestled with the decision to move and for me to go back to work, etc. and we kept praying that God would make things clear to us. Well, He made them very clear today. The company called and said they had reconsidered….that they really aren’t in a place to hire another staff person at this time and didn’t want to uproot our family unless they were sure it was the right timing. Crazy, huh? I felt a wave of relief after talking with them and I trust that God has something else for us. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 Please keep our family in your prayers!!

Here are some photos from our trip to Memphis -

first stop....to see Maw Maw Pryor :)
She had plenty of dolls for Lily to play with
and even a rocking chair that was just her size

Aunt Kay made sure she had some snacks while we were there

Lily got plenty of love from Poppy over the weekend
....and Grami tooand she got to meet her Uncle Matt for the first time since
he's usually away at college when we come to visit
She especially enjoyed Uncle Matt's girlfriend, Rachel
(who spoiled her by "walking" her around everywhere)
Maw Maw Pryor is one cool chick!
Lily is showing Poppy where his nose, eyes, and mouth are located
....and wearing Poppy's glasses while eating crackers
Standing in front of the fan
She LOVES the wind!
What can be more fun than tupperware bowls!!?
Enjoyed the beautiful weather at Olive Branch City Park
Looking at the ducks with her Daddy
Spending time with my friend Stephanie and her girls
Hannah and Halle teaching Lily how to play piano
Joe enjoyed some good fellowship with Stephanie's husband, Charlie (aren't these the cutest bald headed guys you've ever seen :) )
On our way home we stopped at an exit that had a really nice park. I hope I can remember the exit next time we go through...I think it was called Butler

Keri,
Aren't you glad we serve a God who answers prayers in ways we couldn't imagine? He opens AND closes doors! Praying that just the right thing comes along soon - for Joe or you.
